The U.S. Department of Education (USED) released proposed new regulations governing certain aspects of Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)the nation's special education law. Among these proposed new regulations, two are critically important for parents of Autistic children: Parental Consent for Special Education, and Related Services and Hearing Rights.

The Advocacy Institute encourages parents and advocates to submit comments on these proposed changes to the USED.

July 28, 2008 is the deadline for submitting comments.
